The Pratāna Invocation to practice Mettā Meditation

The writer expressing, the “Sukhi hotu” Pratāna to Dhammaputris and Dhammaputras at the Maha Bodhi Vihara, Bangulur, in India.

In the same spirit, we are to unconditionally direct to all fellow human beings, the Mettā-based Pratāna in the Lotus Greeting, regardless of whatever differences in backgrounds or beliefs we may have. As a matter of fact, the unconditional Mettā Pratāna is to encompass all living beings and plant life as well.

In doing so, we become increasingly conscious that just like us, all living beings, wish to avoid suffering and live an unharmed free life. The practice thereby ingrains in us, Mindfulness on the reality that everyone wishes to be happy and well, irrespective of their background and/or character.
