Culture of Oneness of Humankind in the Buddha Dhamma

A mindset of the Oneness of humankind as encapsulated in the Añjali Mudra forms the foundation of the Buddha’s teaching for us all to foster Ariya Samajas (Noble Societies). Accordingly, the Buddha proffered the nurturing of harmonious fourfold Sanghas (communities).

The fourfold social structure, comprising bhikkhus and bhikkhunis (collectively addressed as the Maha Sangha (Great Community) and upasakas and upasikas (lay male and female devotees respectively). In possessing a Right Understanding of the Buddha Dhamma, the fourfold Sangha communities are to live together in harmony and peace, unlike the uprooted gigantic Sal tree which disregarded others and unwisely grew all alone.
